On the 24th and 25th January 2017, the Audencia Rn’B Lab and the Family Entrepreneurship and Society Chair organized the first workshop in Family Entrepreneurship, dedicated to developing works-in-progress.
The agenda for this two-day workshop featured 14 papers, three special issues, and 32 participants from 10 countries. The field of Family Entrepreneurship (FE), at the intersection of Entrepreneurship, Family Business and Family Science was born in 2013 thanks to the efforts of a small yet growing group of scholars: Alistair Anderson, Cristina Bettinelli, Giovanna Dossena, Alain Fayolle, and Kathleen Randerson, with the design of a research agenda for the publication of cutting-edge research. Publications to date include a foundational article in the Journal of Family Business Strategy, a monograph published by NOW, an edited book published by Routledge, and special issues in the journals Futures and the Journal of Small Business Management.
Interest in Family Entrepreneurship, as well as the international team of dedicated, highly qualified scholars, is rapidly growing. Researchers such as Clay Dibrell, Esra Memeli, Hermann Frank, Josh Daspit, Claire Seaman, and Céline Barrédy joined us in Audencia to spearhead this research as guest editors for the special issues of the journals Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior and Research, and the Journal of Family Business Strategy. We would like to thank the editors of these journals for trusting us with these special issues and the authors who have presented their works-in-progress for helping us build the field.
